Terms of Service

Effective date: March 31, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of stuft.in (the "Service"), operated by stuft.in ("we", "us", or "our"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The Service

stuft.in is a personal and household inventory management tool. It allows you to photograph, tag, and search physical items in your possession. The Service is available as a self-hosted application ("Local Mode") and as a cloud-hosted service ("Cloud Mode"). Certain features are only available in Cloud Mode and require an active paid subscription.

2. Accounts

You must provide a valid email address to register. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at jamie@stuft.in if you suspect unauthorized access.

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. By registering, you represent that you meet this requirement.

3. Subscriptions and Payment

Paid plans are billed annually in advance. Prices are listed on the Plans page and are stated in USD. All payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your payment card information.

Renewals. Your subscription automatically renews at the end of each billing period unless you cancel before the renewal date via the billing portal at /billing/portal.

Refunds. We do not offer refunds for partial subscription periods. If you cancel, you retain access until the end of the current billing period.

Plan changes. Upgrades take effect immediately. Downgrades take effect at the next renewal date.

Failed payments. If a payment fails, we will attempt to notify you by email. Access to Cloud Mode features may be suspended until payment is resolved.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

Use the Service to store or distribute illegal content.
Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or otherwise derive source code from the Service beyond what is expressly permitted by the applicable open-source license.
Use the Service to infringe the intellectual property rights of others.
Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of our systems or networks without authorization.
Circumvent or attempt to circumvent authentication or access controls.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account for violations of these Terms.

5. Your Data

In Local Mode, your data (photos, item records, tags) is stored on your own hardware. We do not have access to it. In Cloud Mode, your data is stored on servers operated by us and our infrastructure providers. You retain full ownership of your data.

You may export your data at any time from the Settings page. Upon account deletion we will delete your data within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain it.

6. Intellectual Property

The stuft.in application code is licensed under the terms described in our License page. Our trademarks, logos, and brand assets are not covered by that license and may not be used without our prior written consent.

You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to store, display, and process the content you upload solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you.

7. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components.

8. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT WILL WE BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS OR DATA, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM OR (B) $50 USD.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless stuft.in and its officers, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your infringement of any third-party rights.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access at any time for violations of these Terms, or for any other reason with reasonable notice where required. You may terminate your account at any time via the Settings page. Termination does not entitle you to a refund of any prepaid fees.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or by posting a notice in the Service at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which stuft.in is operated, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction.
