Getting started
1. Add your first item
Hit + (or go to /items/new) and take or upload a photo. Give it a name and a few tags — that’s it. You can always add more detail later.
2. Create a room and some bins
Go to Rooms and add the spaces you want to track — a room, a garage, a storage unit. Inside a room you can add bins (boxes, drawers, shelves). Items can live in a room directly, or inside a bin inside a room.
Nesting as deep as you like: Garage → Metal shelf → Bin 3 → Power tools.
3. Tag generously
Tags are the fastest way to find things later. A single item can have as many tags as you want: tools, seasonal, borrowed, fragile, needs-repair. There’s no hierarchy to maintain — just use whatever words you’d search for.
4. Print QR labels
Go to Labels to generate QR codes for your rooms and bins. Print them, stick them on. Scanning a label opens that bin immediately — no typing.
5. Connect your phone
Go to Connect to see the local URL to type into any browser on your home Wi-Fi. The interface is fully mobile-friendly.
Tips
- The search bar at the top searches names, descriptions, and tags in real time.
- Long-press (or right-click) a photo in the item detail to save it to your camera roll.
- The Reminders page works like a tickler file — useful for warranty expiry dates, annual reviews, or seasonal items to pull out.
